Congratulations Mr. Del Hoyo
Our 2022 Teacher of the Year!
Message From our Teacher of the Year.
Your teacher of the year was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico where I was raised around a lot ofmusic that my parents exposed me too from a very young age. My parents moved to Tampa,Florida where I finished my Junior and Senior year in High School. I completed my Music Therapyundergraduate studies at Florida State University where I met the Puerto Rican of my dreams Mrs.Del Hoyo who also teaches 2nd grade at CLES.
Mrs. Del Hoyo and I have been married for 24 years. We have an incredible daughter, Isabella whois a proud college graduate of the University of South Florida. We also have a fantastic 19 year oldson, Gabriel who is pursuing a career in the culinary arts.
I’ve been in the field of Music Therapy and Education for 25 years. I began my career working andproviding Music Therapy services to special needs children with Easter Seals in Miami Dade,United Cerebral Palsy of Orlando, Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital, and Rosenwald EducationalCenter in Seminole County currently Endeavor Center. I am excited to begin my 11th year as theteacher and music director at Crystal Lake Elementary where I am eager to get back to myafterschool music Vocal and Instrumental Ensembles.
What do I like most about my job? Well, besides getting to share my love of music with every singlestudent at CLES I love providing my students with the confidence necessary to perform, sing, dance, and play in order to express themselves musically. Of course, there’s nothing better thangetting my afterschool music ensembles performing in front of their families and friends duringour school performances as well as an excited Orlando Magic crowd on the court at the Amway oron the ice for the Orlando Solar Bears fans. Not to mention, performing our National Anthem forthe City of Lake Mary Mayor to begin their annual “Night Out” in downtown Lake Mary every year.
Thank you to all of my amazing colleagues that I get to work with every day. You are all incredibleand I am honored to be your Teacher of the Year!
